Marlins win regional semifinal

Volleyball: Farmington Hills Mercy beats Detroit Renaissance 3-0 on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018

 

   Division 1 No. 1-ranked Farmington Hills Mercy cruised to a 3-0 victory over Detroit Renaissance in a Michigan High School Athletic Association Region 7 volleyball semifinal at Bloomfield Hills Marian on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

   Mercy won 25-13, 25-12, and 25-13, setting up a regional final against Catholic High School League rival and No. 6-ranked Bloomfield Hills Marian on Thursday, Nov. 8, on Marian’s home court.

   Marian beat Detroit Cass Technical 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, and 25-14) in the other regional semifinal.

   Sophomore Julia Bishop had 23 assists and seven kills. Senior Logan Beyer had seven kills. Senior Mallory Conrad added six kills in the victory.

   The Marlins swept the Mustangs 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, and 25-20) to repeat as CHSL A-B champions on Oct. 22.

   Marian beat Mercy 3-1 (13-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-21) in the MHSAA semifinals last season.
