Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence players and coaches pose with their MHSAA district championship trophy on Thursday.

   Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence dominated Detroit Southeastern 3-0 in less than 45 minutes to earn the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2, District 60 volleyball championship on Thursday, Nov. 4, at Edison.

   Edison (23-8) won 25-10, 25-8, 25-0. Edison last won a MHSAA district volleyball championship in 2017.

   Senior Sade Allen was stellar from the service line, winning 28 points

with 18 aces. Allen served 24 straight points in Edison’s 25-0 final set win.

   Senior Delaney Farver had 10 service wins with six aces and had 10 kills.

   Senior Kyah Powell won eight service points with five aces and had five kills.

   Senior Tayler Rivers won six service points with three aces.

   Edison beat Detroit University Preparatory Science & Math 3-0 and Southeastern beat Detroit Osborn 3-0 in the semifinals.

   Edison advances to the Region 15 tournament at Detroit Country Day. Edison will play the District 57 champions on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m.
