   Division 1 No. 2-ranked Lake Orion swept Clarkston 3-0 to win the Michigan High School Athletic Association District 5 volleyball championship on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Waterford Kettering.

   Lake Orion won 25-22, 25-17, and 25-22 to improve to 63-6 on the season and win its first district title since 2015.

   Senior Clara Livingway had 15 digs and won 17 service points. Senior

Miss Volleyball finalist Paige Briggs had 17 kills and seven digs. Junior

 

 Sydney Smith added seven kills. Senior Wren Macaulay totaled 29 assists for the Dragons, who won all four meetings with Clarkston this year.

   Lake Orion beat Holly 3-0 in the district semifinals and downed Oxford 3-0 in the district opener.

   The Dragons host the Region 2 tournament and face Troy on Tuesday, Nov. 6. No. 9 Rochester Hills Stoney Creek faces Walled Lake Northern in the other Region 2 semifinal. The regional final is Thursday, Nov. 8.
