Waterford Kettering players celebrate after winning a point against Waterford Mott on Thursday.

    Waterford Kettering held off a late rally to defeat crosstown rival Waterford Mott 3-1 in volleyball action on Thursday, Sept. 30, at Mott.

    Kettering won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-18. Mott took charge in the third set, winning 25-15. Kettering opened the fourth set strong, going up 9-1. The Captains led 24-12 and looked to close out the match, but the

Corsairs wouldn’t quit winning the next seven points, but finally fell 25-19.

   Senior Naomi Hilliard won 19 service points and had two aces. Junior Sidney Cummins won 17 service points. Senior Savanagh LaBo won nine service points and had two kills. Junior Julia Matora and senior Emily Nuttall both had seven kills for the Captains.

   Kettering travels to South Lyon East on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
