Detroit Western International players celebrate after winning a point against Detroit Collegiate Preparatory at Northwestern on Wednesday.

   Detroit Western International swept past Detroit Public School League foe Detroit Collegiate Preparatory at Northwestern 3-0 in volleyball action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Western.

   Western won the match 25-5, 25-14, and 25-7.

   The Cowgirls dominated the first set as Jaylynn Reyes had five aces and two kills. Michelle Mendoza had five aces in the set. Iolannie Fernandez added three aces. Hillary Guzman had two kills.

 

 

   Alainnis Rodriguez had five aces and Talisha Atanacio added three aces in the second set.

   The Cowgirls jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the third set as Rodriguez dominated from the serving line with seven aces. Fernandez added three aces in the set.

   Western travels to Detroit Cody today, Oct. 1.
