Mountaineers sweep two foes

Volleyball: Clarkston Everest Collegiate beats Auburn Hills Oakland Christian and Sterling Heights Parkway Christian on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018

   Clarkston Everest Collegiate improved to 7-1 on the season with hard-fought wins over Auburn Hills Oakland Christian and Sterling Heights Parkway Christian at a tri-match on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Oakland Christian.

   Everest beat Oakland Christian 26-24, 25-20 and downed Parkway Christian 25-21, 25-14.

   Against Oakland Christian in the opener, seniors Grace Lowney had 21 assists and two aces, Serra Lowney had five kills and two digs, Katelyn Allen totaled five kills, one block, and an ace, and Kendall Beauchamp had five kills and a block. Junior Jane Nedwick had four digs and an ace. Sophomores Daniella Mirjah had four kills and Sydney Cooper totaled five digs and two aces. Freshman Sally McGrath added a kill and a block.

   In the second match against Parkway Christian, Serra Lowney had eight kills, four digs, and five aces, Grace Lowney had 27 assists and three aces, Allen totaled five kills and two aces, Beauchamp had five kills. Nedwick totaled six digs and an ace, Mirjah had nine kills, four digs, and an ace. Cooper had 13 digs.

   Everest travels to Novi Christian Academy on Thursday, Sept. 13.
