Detroit Western International players celebrate after beating Detroit Henry Ford on Thursday.

   Detroit Western International opened its 2019 volleyball season with an impressive 3-0 victory over Detroit Henry Ford on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Henry Ford.    Western won 25-7, 25-18, and 25-9.

   The Cowgirls used dominate serving to control play.

   In the opening set, Belicia Tello had 14 straight service points, including

four aces. Michelle Woodland had six service points in the set, including

 

 two aces.

   Hillary Guzman had 10 service points and three aces in the second set. Jaylynn Reyes added five service points and two aces in the set.

   In the final set, Woodland had six service points and Reyes added four service points and two aces.

  Guzman and Reyes both finished with four kills during the match.
